What stopped you the last time you tried tarot?
For most people it is the memorising. The Beginner's Tarot removes it: each card carries its meanings printed at the top and bottom, so anyone can read fortunes just by looking at the card in their hand. The annotations are in Japanese — with card titles in English — on artwork drawn from the beloved Dreaming Cat Tarot.
Three reasons readers choose this deck
The meaning travels on the card
Keywords are printed above and below each image, so a reading never stalls while you hunt through a booklet.
Please note: annotations are in Japanese
The printed meanings are Japanese text (card titles appear in English). It is a wonderful deck for Japanese learners and Dreaming Cat collectors; for English readers, the same deck is now available as the Beginner's Tarot English Edition.
Rider-based underneath
The design follows the Rider edition, so what you learn with this deck transfers directly to any traditional one.

The artwork
The Dreaming Cat world, with the training wheels drawn on beautifully.
The cards keep the soft Dreaming Cat illustrations and frame them with printed keywords in a design that stays pretty rather than academic. It is the rare learning deck you would still leave out on the table.
— The day this deck was made —
It began with the voices of customers who almost gave up.
"Tarot looks so difficult. The pictures are scary. I am too shy to use them."
The Beginner Tarot series was born from exactly those words. We took the gentlest artwork we had — the Dreaming Cat world — and printed the meanings right onto the cards, top and bottom, so that fortune telling could start the moment the box opened. No study, no memorising, no waiting to feel ready. Every day feels a bit vague sometimes; this deck was made so that taking a small step out of that never requires more than one flip.

Frequently asked questions
Is the text on the cards in English?
The card titles are in English, but the printed meanings are in Japanese. If you do not read Japanese, we recommend the Beginner's Tarot English Edition, which prints everything in English.
Who is this edition for?
Japanese-reading beginners who want to skip memorising, learners of Japanese, and Dreaming Cat series collectors.
Does it follow the traditional system?
Yes. The design is based on the Rider edition, so skills learned with it transfer to any standard deck.
How long does delivery take?
Orders ship from Japan by EMS with tracking. Delivery times vary by country — please see our Shipping Policy for current estimates.
How is it different from the Dreaming Cat Tarot?
Same world, different purpose: this edition prints meanings directly on the cards for instant reading, while the standard deck pairs unannotated cards with an English and Japanese guidebook.
